our mission
im starting this brand for a multitude of reasons. first and foremost,
its basically impossible to have art be a sustainable avenue for income, especially
as a diy artist in an evergrowing expensive ass world. i come from a very
supportive family and community to where i've been able to continue to make art
as i've gotten older- but so many people do not have this privilege.
i plan on using all the profits made from selling merchandise to give back to my
community and fellow artists alike. the profit breakdown will go as follows:
- 50% = the artists who design the merch
- 25% = bayanihan oregon
- 25% = swana rose pdx
what is bayanihan oregon?
bayanihan oregon is a filipino center based in portland that i've recently become more intertwined with these past couple years. i've always felt kinda disconnected with my culture as i've gotten older, especially being in a very white-dominated city. finding this org has allowed me to meet other filipinos with similar values and also gave me direction in how to actually make a positive difference in an unfair world. this center advocates for the marginalized filipinos in oregon, whether it be migrant workers, LGBTQ+, youth, etc. they've done so much for me and the filipino community here in portland and want to give back as much as i can.
what is swana rose pdx?
swana rose pdx is another center based in portland, but targeted towards a broader southwest asia + north africa demographic. with all the conflict continuing to escalate in the middle east, the disconnect between the US and there has made it discouraging to feel like any effort made is making enough of a difference. this center is volunteer run and gives space for those marginalized pdx indivudals within these cultures that i lack the connection or experience to speak for. i personally have grown silent on these issues and i apologize on not being clear on my stance and support for palestine. social media has become an echo chamber for both sides, which caused me to separate myself for a year and seek ways to help in my local community.
closing wurds
if u spent the time reading allat, ur a weirdo and i love you and appreciate u sticking around. honestly having people wear clothes advertising my music and artist friends while supporting good causes is way more valuable to me than any money i could ever make off it. if this all goes well, i intend to expand the brand to other avenues and use my platform to give back to the people who help me get to where i am today. also i really love my cat furgie. i've included some pics below:
